Schools Get Another Snow Day

A message from RED RIVER PARISH SCHOOL Superintendent Alison Hughes

To All Red River Bulldogs Faculty, Staff, and Parents:

Snow days bring fun and enjoyment for children and children at heart. Today, my family enjoyed several traditional snow day activities! I certainly hope each of you were able to do the same.

Snow brings lots of fun and memories, however in the south with snow also comes water and the possibility of ice. I have been advised by the local authorities that freezing of bridges and roads is possible through the night as the snow melts.  I have no assurance that these conditions will improve before our buses have to enter the roadways in the morning. We also do not have power in all of our schools as of yet and many residents are still without power in our parish.   In the interest of doing what is safe for students and employees, we will not have school tomorrow, January 12, 2021.  We will resume school on Wednesday January 13, 2021 at our regularly scheduled time.

As administrators, we are asked to make difficult decisions and today’s decision to extend our school closure is based upon the information we have been given at this time.  There is no way to know exactly what tomorrow’s weather will bring. Our only thoughts are for the safety of our students and employees.

I hope that each of you stay safe and warm.  We will see you on Wednesday.

The story is the same for Riverdale Academy:

Due to possible hazardous road conditions, Riverdale will be closed tomorrow, January 12th. Stay safe and warm!!!

And also for Magnolia Bend Academy:

There will not be any class meetings tomorrow.

The snow is about to turn to slush and then to ice tonight with temperatures at 23 degrees.

So, our week will now be all grades PreK-12 Wednesday-Thursday.

We hope you have enjoyed your snow day today!
