Two Charged In Connection With Local Shooting Death

Two Coushatta men face charges in connection with the shooting death of a 17-year old high school student.  Jonathan Brisker and Sincere Sha’kur Brisker were arrested November 5th by the Red River Sheriff’s Office. 

Jonathan Brisker was charged with negligent homicide and obstruction of justice.  No bond had been set at the time of the most recent weekly arrest report, last Sunday.

Sincere Sha’kur Brisker was charged with obstruction of justice in the case.  He was also charged with failure to appear on traffic charges of speeding and no drivers license.  His bond was set at $5,000.  He was released on bond November 6, 2020.

On the evening of Wednesday, October 23, 2020, 17-year old Kier Jackson was killed in the neighborhood behind Nolen’s on US 71 south of Coushatta.  The connection between the arrests and the Jackson shooting was confirmed Friday by Sheriff’s PIO Troy Murray.  Click this link to read The Journal’s reports:

The Journal asked Sheriff Glen Edwards for comment.  Edwards replied, “”The arrests are in connection to the shooting death that Mr. Brewer is referencing. The investigation is ongoing and no specifics will be released at this time.”
