Trying to Crack Cold Cases

This week the Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office ask Red River for help solving thirty to forty year old homicides.  They called upon an amazing canine and her handler.

VPSO Detectives revisited some cold homicide case sites with Red River Parish Deputy Randy Thomas and Human Recovery K9 Ciphera. The Sheriff’s Office said, “We were amazed by Ciphera as we watched her and Deputy Thomas work.”

“The natural beauty of these locations is in direct contrast to the horrific events that took place in the early spring months of 1980 & 1990 which left two 15 year old girls dead in these wooded areas of Vernon Parish.

VPSO added, “We hope that Ciphera’s work today will help our cold case investigators obtain justice for the victims and their families.”
