Several groups in the community combined forces to deliver Christmas cards to residents of local nursing homes. Over 300 cards were distributed on Christmas Eve.
The Coushatta VFW Auxiliary 7287 members signed about 200 cards. Several members including group Secretary, Dawn Brewer made arrangements for the distribution.
She was joined by Sharon Adkins. She brought about 100 cards from her church Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church.
Several members of Brewer’s Certified Nursing Assistant (CAN) class at Red River High joined in to make it a group effort.
On Christmas Eve, they visited all of the residents at Green Meadow Haven in Coushatta. Then they went to Ringgold Nursing and Rehabilitation in Ringgold. Brewer’s CNA Class had just completed their Clinicals at Ringgold Nursing and they wanted to assure that residents of that facility got cards also.
Brewer and Adkins have plans underway to get more members of their churches and organizations involved in the project next year.
