Red River Athletic Director Norman Picou has announced that the football field and track facility is now closed to the public.
On December 11thPicou’s statement said, “Due to construction and for the safety of our students and community the Red River High School Football and Track Facility will be closed until further notice.

“There is to be no trespassing and unauthorized use of the facilities.

“Any questions regarding this matter can be directed to the Athletic Director Norman Picou at Red River High School 318-932-5344.

“Thanks for your support and understanding.”

You will notice in the photo, taken on Thursday, the stadium sign “Pat Strother Memorial Stadium” is missing from atop the press box.  Also some of the fencing surrounding the stadium has been taken down.  Very soon the contractor will move in and demolish the stadium that has served Red River/Coushatta High since the 1950s.  A new stadium will be constructed in time for football season next fall.
