Blanket Drive a Success

There was a blanket drive this week at the Red River Council on Aging on Front Street.  The theme was Let’s Keep Seniors Warm this Winter.

The Journal stopped by about lunch time and there were already a large pile of donated blankets. Some folks gave cash so they could buy more blankets.

A Natchitoches radio station did a remote broadcast hosted by Christian Beyer.  He supplied a list of early donors including Sheriff Glen Edwards and Assessor-elect Dovie Beard.  Others came from Angie White at Max Way, Police Jury employees of the third floor of the Courthouse, Susan Wilson, and Shop-A-Lott.

The drive had originally been scheduled for November 19th.  It was delayed until last Monday due to technical problems at the Council’s Jack and Laura Center.
