The majority of voters in Red River Parish chose Dovie Neal Beard to be the next Assessor. She will replace Becky Craig who is retiring.
Beard garnered 62% or 2192 votes to Tenisha Canterbury’s 38% or 1352 votes.
Here is Beard’s statement of thanks to the voters:
Thank you God and thank you to the voters of Red River Parish! I can never thank you enough, but please know that I really appreciate each and every one of you, your vote, your support, your encouragement and most of all your prayers. God answers prayers and He surely answered mine.
I have to thank my husband Shawn, without your support and encouragement I would have never made it through this and also my family, friends and co-workers. This has been a long, tiring journey but it is over, and we came out victorious. God has taught me many lessons throughout this, His faithfulness, given me strength when I didn’t feel like I could keep going, taking away my fear and insecurities, and so much more. But most of all He showed me that He loves me, He is faithful and if you are obedient to Him, that He will see you through. I have enjoyed meeting and visiting with you and have made many new friends.
THANK YOU! I promise I will do my best to make you proud that you trusted me and voted for me. To those that did not support me, I will work hard to earn your support.
“Oh, give thanks to the LORD! Call upon His name; Make known His deeds among the peoples!”
