High School Band Director Honored By Army Band

The 156thArmy Band’s Soldier Spotlight is SGT Yasmine Jason. SGT Jason’s story is unique in that unlike many others in Louisiana’s Own, she didn’t originally join as a band member.

Her first MOS was in the supply field and she spent the first few years of her career in a reserve unit. She came to Louisiana’s Own in 2006 and was a welcome addition to the clarinet section.

SGT Jason plays in the marching and concert bands and in the Woodwinds of Mass Destruction MPT.  She also serves as the unit librarian, where she disseminates, organizes and catalogs our entire collection of music.

Jason has a Bachelor of Music Education from Northwestern State University and is Director of Bands at Red River High School.  She is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Higher Education Administration.

SGT Jason lives in Natchitoches, LA with her husband and their three dogs.
