The Community Blood Drive was held last week at the Council on Aging. A number of people donated, however the turnout was not as great as had been expected.
The Journal went early to donate. We caught up with Mary Braswell and Kristy Jones. They were helped by phlebotomist Shiquanda Knuckles and Nika Amer. Natacha Scott also assisted with the donation process.
Lifeshare spokesman Philip Maxfield expressed disappointment in the turnout. Maxfield said, “We had over 20 people sign up on social media, but they did not show up.”
The blood supply in northwest Louisiana is very low right now. Lifeshare is holding blood drives to build up the supply. If you missed the event in Coushatta on October 8thyou can call Lifeshare to set an appointment to donate.
