The old saying is “Better late than never” and it turned out to be true for one of the Red River High students competing in the state rally. Thanks to Shiela Peter for furnishing the details.
In April, RRHS student, Shaniya Beavers competed at the state level in Accounting where she came in 2nd! All 1st through 3rd place winners receive certificates and medals. The Louisiana High School Rally Association mistakenly put Beavers’ school as Caldwell Parish. Although, they were made aware of their mistake the evening the scores were released, no certificate or medal ever showed up before the end of the school year.
RRHS rally coordinator was certain it would be waiting when school started, but unfortunately she was disappointed. Miss Beavers and Mrs. Peter appealed to principal, JC Dickey who put in a call to LHSRA and discovered that they were going through some revamping and shuffling of employees. However, Dickey was able to talk to someone who was compassionate to the situation and the certificate and medal FINALLY arrived.
