Last Friday afternoon the Red River Bulldogs opened up their afternoon practice to the public. Coach John Bachman invited everyone to come watch and to get their first glimpse of the new turf field.
They filled the stands in Pat Strother Memorial Stadium, anxious for another season of Bulldog football to get underway.
Coach Bachman posted, “A big thank you to the community of Coushatta for coming last night and helping our kids by bringing peanut butter and jelly, etc. They deserve the best and you are continually sacrificing so they can have it. Our facilities take a back seat to no one and greatness is our destiny.
“Thank you once again for your help. We still need help with our booster club (it’s for all sports). See Randy Thomas and join. Also, We will be implementing a study hall after practice. If you can help tutor please message me.”
Thanks also came via the High School Facebook page, “Thank You Red River Parish community for coming out and showing support for our young men at the junior high and high school’s Open Practice/Scrimmage. Thank you for supporting our girls basketball team selling concessions and we want to also thank you for all the food donations we received tonight, to help feed our boys before and after practices.
“Thank you for everyone who attended the booster club meeting we hope you get involved helping all of our athletic programs.
“As you could see tonight the construction is moving along fast. The new parking lots are almost done, along with the new road, also baseball and softball fields will have turf down mid-September.
“As you were driving up you also saw the layout for the new junior high gym, vocational building, and music building. We are growing all because of this great community, come out and support us this year and continue to watch us grow.”
