Red River Parish Sheriff’s Investigators received a complaint alleging that a police officer was harassing the victim by making threats via text messages. The subsequent investigation determined probable cause to support the allegations. Electronic messages indicated that the officer attempted to use his position as a police officer to influence the individual through threats of enforcement action. The messages included the threat of manufactured arrest charges.
It was determined that, at the time of the correspondence, the officer was employed on a part-time basis with the Ringgold Police Department and the Coushatta Police Department and was working with the Natchez Police Department in a reserve/voluntary capacity. The dispute arose through a personal relationship and was not associated with his position as a police officer and/or his law enforcement duties.
