Work Begins on Music and Vocational Buildings

Construction work is underway on new classroom facilities being built on the Red River High School campus.  And a re-routing of a back street is also underway.

Superintendent Alison Hughes gave the School Board an update at the August meeting.  Hughes said, “Construction is moving along, although not as fast as I would like.  But the foundation work has begun on the new vocational center.”  That building will be home to programs now housed on the Springville Education Center campus.

Hughes also reported that work is beginning on the new band building.  It will be located just south of the gymnasium beside the present temporary buildings that house sixth grade classes.

These photos are from Thursday and they show the ground work for the vocational center.  The old Coushatta High gym (now used by the Junior High) is in the background.  The photo below shows ground work for the street extension.  About half of the concrete has been poured.  This street extension will route traffic to the stadium and also provide an outlet for homes north and east of the football stadium.

You can see the work for yourself Friday afternoon.  The public is invited to an Open Practice conducted by the Bulldog Football Team. Gates open about 6:00 pm and a donation of snacks or cleaning supplies for the team is requested.  A hot dog supper will be sold for $5.00.  Coach John Bachman invites you to come watch the Bulldogs as they prepare for the 2019 season.
