Another Successful Summer

Lots of children, lots of books and lots of fun times with our special guests and new friends.  Those are the things that made the 2019 Summer Reading Program “A Universe Of Stories” a great success!  Each Monday we had a different performer and an average of 53 kids attending. On Thursdays, an average of 22 kids had a chance to play games, create crafts or just hang out.  Twenty four children met or exceeded their goal for number of books read throughout June and July.

Some of the highlights of our summer include: dancing with a fairy and Little Bunny Foo Foo; using our imagination as Mrs. Davis told us wonderful stories; loving on some animals who came to visit; trying to figure out how a real live bunny appeared out of “nowhere”; gazing at constellations; watching a K9 officer do her job and how a police drone watches everything on camera; hanging out with firefighters; and being in the band “Lady Chops and The Chicken Pox”.  (Yep, that’s what they named their selves.)

The Red River Parish Library would like to thank the parents, grandparents, daycare owners and all others who brought their young ones to the Library this summer. We hope you will all return and bring others next year as we encourage reading while school is out.

The participants who met or exceeded their reading goal were:

Dally Bell, Trevor Bell, Jaxon Blount, Liam Blount, Olivia Baxley, Bradley Baxley, Sha’Kristian Campbell, Reagan Cannon, Ryleigh Garrett, Reese Gerow, Zachary Hassen, Jayson Henry, Kayden Henry, Arie’l Jefferson, Mason Jones, Sorrian Johnson, Jaydon Lee, Maricela Lee, Hope Mena, Johnny Meshell, Travis Meshell, DaKareya Moore, Kaleb Schmidley, and Silas Wimberly.
