The Vice Commander of the Louisiana Veterans of Foreign Wars recently visited Red River Memorial Post 7287. He’s Mickey Carroll and he brought news of the VFW activities in the state while reviewing projects conducted by the local post.
Carroll noted that nationally, statewide, and locally membership is up in the VFW. This gives a stronger voice to the veterans service organization when working with the Congress on issues of importance to veterans.
He congratulated Post 7287 on local activities including service to members of the Coushatta National Guard unit. Other activities noted included service to veterans in need or in distress, placing American flags on veterans graves and local partnerships with schools to honor outstanding students.
Carroll will advance to State VFW Commander for 2019-2020. He said his goal is to restore the brand, to earn more respect for Veterans of Foreign Wars in schools and among veterans throughout Louisiana. One way he envisions accomplishing this is through partnering with local posts to increase service to veterans, their families, and the communities in which they live.
