The annual Community Health Fair was held on Thursday. It is sponsored by Red River Council on Aging as an event to benefit the parish. “It was a really good turnout,” said Peggy Young, one of the event organizers for the council.
When the health fair opened Thursday morning, Young said there were over 25 vendors. There were many health screenings and tests offered by Christus Health, the MLK Health Center and others. A wealth of nutrition, healthy lifestyle, and other information was available from agencies serving this area.
Young said, “I am very pleased. There was an overflow crowd with people lined up outside to get in.” Young said hopefully they can hold it outside to accommodate all the vendors and people who came to participate.
