The winner of the local Veterans of Foreign Wars Post and Auxiliary Voice of Democracy competition was selected third best in northwest Louisiana. She is Destiny Moore, a senior at Ringgold High School. Her certificate and scholarships were presented this week.
Moore was presented the certificate by her principal, Shane Lee. More was excited and overwhelmed by the scholarship money. Moore said upon graduation this spring she plans to pursue a degree in nursing at Grambling State University.
The Voice of Democracy program is one of the patriotic programs offered to schools in Red River and Bienville parishes by the Coushatta VFW Post and Auxiliary each year. Of those entries submitted, Moore’s was judged the best. It was forwarded to VFW District 12 where it was judged third of those submitted by posts in the district. This is the second year in a row that the local winner has come from Ringgold High School. The next Voice of Democracy competition will be presented to students at the beginning of the fall term.
