Carry a warm coat to the Red River Football playoff game tonight. The temperature at kickoff is forecast to be around 50. Rainfall should stop by early Friday afternoon.

The Bulldogs are hosting the first round of the playoffs. They will play Franklin High from Franklin, LA. The Franklin Hornets are 4-5 overall and 4-2 in district. The game will be carried live by Journal Sports on the Journal’s website and social media pages. Broadcast starts at 6:45 and the kickoff is at 7:00 pm.

This is “Meet the Rebels” day at Riverdale Academy. It is the kickoff to basketball season and the festivities begin at 4:00 pm at the school.

Today is sweet potato pickup day. If you ordered sweet potatoes from the 4-H you may pick them up at the fairgrounds between 9:30 am and 4:30 pm.

On Sunday, Abundant Life Worship Center is holding an outreach at Green Meadow Haven. It starts at 2:00 pm on November 11th. Everyone is invited.

Sunday is Veterans Day. It was 100 years ago that World War I ended. The armistice was signed at 11:00 o’clock on the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918. Initially the day was called Armistice Day. It was later changed to Veterans Day to honor all American veterans whenever they served.

A “Veterans Day Pancake Breakfast” is being held Monday at First Methodist Church on Front Street. It is put on by the local VFW Post and Auxiliary. Enjoy pancakes, bacon, sausage, juice and all that goes with it for $5.00 per person. In honor of Veterans Day, all vets and active duty military personnel are invited to enjoy breakfast for free.
