Trick or Treat

There were Trick-or-Treat opportunities everywhere in the parish Wednesday night. And many children turned out despite some weather concerns. The skies were dark however the rain held off until it was all over.

The Trunk-On-Front Street sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and Front Street merchants was cancelled due to threatening weather. Still merchants handed out goodies to the ghosts and ghouls who didn’t get the cancellation notice.

The crowds turned out at the old elementary school campus where Will of God Ministries held it’s 10th annual Fall Festival. The Pastor, Dr. Johnny Cox, told The Journal, “We’re not afraid of the weather! This is what I love, giving a great party.”

Jasmine Taylor, Sonya Taylor and AJ Taylor manned the Will of God Ministries trunk. Valerie Cox and several other people from the community had trunks full of candy.

The Journal took lots of pictures and some others were furnished by Roxie Reliford. There were ghosts, ghouls, and goblins of every description, including Ninja Turtles, several versions of Chuckie, several princesses and firefighters, and someone came disguised as The Mayor.

We met Kinya Gray. She is 10 years old and very confident that she will be a nurse someday. Her costume, as you might imagine, was nurse’s scrubs. Good luck Kinya and keep following your dream.

Other Fall Festival celebrations were held by several churches in the parish. And nearly every neighborhood saw children trick-or-treating. If you have any pictures sent them to The Journal. The email is RedRiverParishJournal@gmail.com.
