Fans attending Northwestern State home football, basketball, baseball and softball games are reminded that NSU Athletics has a new bag check policy that includes restrictions on the types of purses and bags that will be allowed inside the venues.

No bag larger than 12 inches by 12 inches is permitted. Any purse or bag brought to the venue will be searched at gates by trained personnel, said Mike Jacklich, assistant athletics director for ticketing and special events.

The search is aimed at preventing weapons from entering the stadium, along with outside food and beverage, alcohol, drugs, umbrellas, and other items deemed inappropriate by game day staff or NSU police, said Jacklich. Umbrellas have been banned from NSU home football games for many years.
