Major renovations and new construction at Red River schools is underway. Board Superintendent Alison Hughes announced a new public information campaign at the October board meeting. Hughes said, “We want everyone to know the progress we are making. We want to tell everyone we are spending the bond issue money wisely.”
There are new posters pointing out progress made and what is to come. These have been erected at the entrance to the football stadium and other places around schools. There is also a new billboard on Front Street near the board offices.
Among early accomplishments are a complete revamping of the air conditioning system at Red River Elementary, re-location of T-buildings to behind the cafeteria on the high school campus to make way for new construction, and a major security upgrade and front entrance on the elementary school.
A large tract of land just east of the football stadium was purchased and is being cleared. A New baseball complex is being built there. The new softball complex and parking lot is under construction just south of the football field.
