Red River and a number of other parishes in northwest Louisiana have been under a ban on all outdoor burning. This was due to the hot, dry summer we are enjoying.
On Monday morning Red River Parish Fire Protection District Chief Shane Felts lifted the ban. Felts told the Journal, “It was lifted, but I will probably end up putting us back under one in a week or so.”
Chief Felts said the rainfall and cooler temperatures have come as welcome relief. Why should it be necessary to reinstate the burn ban? Felts said, “because it will not take but a day or two of heat and sunshine to have us dangerous again.”
