Saturday afternoon was a great family outing at the third annual Rebel Fest held at Riverdale Academy. There was a light rain falling part of the day but the crowd was large and excited to take part.
And some big money prizes were awarded. The grand prize raffle paid $10,000 for first place. First place went to Keith Harrison. Second place was a 7-day beach vacation and the winner was Dawn Almond. Third place was a Smith and Wesson AR-15 and Trudie Shaver won it.
There were many games for kids and children of all ages. For example Laser Tag and the Escape Room kept the kids entertained. For adults there was a Cornhole Tournament where everyone had fun trying to throw the bean bag through a hole on a target. For the little ones there was a child-sized area.
The Baking Contest was held in the cafeteria with cakes and pies and cookies and many other sinfully good deserts. In the Pie division, Barbara Holland took first place with her Buttermilk Pie. Second and very good also was Nikki Bryant’s Coconut Pie. Shelly Franks took third with a Pecan Pie.
Top in the Cake division was Dan and Amanda Cason with Turtle Cheesecake. Tabatha King garnered second place with her Butterfinger Cake. Third place went to a Strawberry Shortcake by J. Cardinell.
In the Other division, Brooklyn Giddings won first place with her caramel Apple. Second was Paula Jeans and her Magic Cookie Bars. Reese’s Monkey Bread baked by Marie Woodard took third place.
There were other games including Chicken Bingo shown in the picture at the top of this article. The chicken decided which was the lucky number. Also there was a dunk tank and Kiss the Pig and a live and silent auction. There were some very nice items in the auction including ATVs and a hunting blind.
At the end of the night the Rebel Fest organizers were tired but happy with a job well done. Rebel Fest is one of the major events to raise funds for Riverdale Academy.
