The Red River at Coushatta has reached its high point and is slowly receding. Latest information from the National Weather Service indicates the Red is over four feet above flood stage of 31 feet. As of Noon Tuesday the level was 34.3 feet, down from a high of 34.5 feet.

All boat launches on the Red River remain closed for safety reasons. Many farms and pastureland along the river remain under water. At the rate of drop indicated on the graphic it could be some time before the river returns to 31-foot flood stage or below.

At their meeting Monday night, the Red River Parish Police Jury received a report from Roads Superintendent Larry Hughes that there are still some problems with water on parish roads. Hugh said the washed out areas have been repaired however there are still some pipes to be replaced. State roads in the parish are reported by DOTD to be open.
