The Journal would like to wish everyone a great Valentines Day! We hope you and your sweetheart had a wonderful day.

The preacher at the Methodist Church brought a Mardi Gras tradition with him to Coushatta. Dr. Curtis Carroll served breakfast Tuesday morning to the congregation at First Methodist and Wesley Chapel churches. There was quite a spread of breakfast favorites including 10 pounds of bacon. Carroll says he has served Mardi Gras breakfast at the churches he has pastored for a number of years.

The Northwestern State University Foundation will host its second annual Flavor of Louisiana at 6 p.m. Friday, March 23 in Prather Coliseum. Flavor of Louisiana is presented in partnership with the Louisiana Seafood Board and will offer samplings of Louisiana cuisine from all over the state. More than 500 guests enjoyed last year’s event, tasting a wide variety of seafood dishes, appetizers and desserts prepared by chefs, restaurants and caterers from around the Louisiana, as well as students in NSU’s culinary arts program.

You may have seen the signs at your bank. Next Monday is a Federal holiday, President’s Day. Banks and government offices will be closed. It is not a holiday for schools in the parish. Children resume classes after having this week off for Winter Break.
