On Friday and Saturday the members of Social Springs Baptist Church held a fundraiser at the HUB. Proceeds benefit the annual mission trip members of the church take to Honduras.
When The Journal arrived Saturday morning we found many items were marked “sold” and just waiting for the new owners to pick them up. Inside and out there were a great variety of items to choose from, including household items, toys, clothes, furniture and a lot more.
And there were smiling faces on members of the church as they brought out cakes, popcorn, and freshly brewed coffee for the bargain hunters. Bro. James Hester said that everything had been donated for the sale to help pay for the trip.
There was a large display with pictures from prior year trips and a map of the Central American country with towns and villages visited in the past clearly marked. This year the itinerary includes a week at a Baptist Mission hospital in Guaimaca from May 18th to 25th. The week of May 26th to June 1st will be spent in the village of Guinope. Hester said, “We are hoping to send up to a dozen people from Red River Parish.”
