The Red River Junior High School has a pep squad. It consists of 12 girls and one young man (Mascot). They have been working hard to get ready for a busy school year of football, basketball, and they would even like to participate in some of other sports connected with the school.
The pep squad has been together since June. They have practiced two days a week for several hours in July, and two days a week after school, since it started. They have been working with the RRJH cheerleaders learning cheers, learning how to stay in line and look sharp.
This is the first ever pep squad for RRJH and they are so excited to be able to show their school spirit and to be going to the games. They are 13 strong, loud, and proud young ladies and a gentleman, that will represent their school with pride. Their first game was Tuesday night at Lee Hedges Stadium in Shreveport where the RRJH bulldogs took on the Caddo Middle Magnent Stallions.
They were loud and proud. They did a great job, had a great time, and look forward to more games and activities. “I am extremely proud of them, they have worked hard. Not only after school but they started early this summer making sure they knew the cheers and were prepared for the games. They love their uniforms and they enjoy being an extra cheering section for sports. They are a wonderful group and I am very lucky to be working with them.” said Mrs. Darsey, their coach.
Darsey added, “I hope to have a bigger group next year. Between the supportive and actively involved parents, and the hard work put in by the girls, I am very lucky and so glad to be able to work with them.”
The members of the Pep Squad in the first row are: Leutenant: Anna Jones, Admiral: Mikayla Tingle, Captain: Bryn Danzy.

Third row: Element Leader: Payal Patel, Lamaja Thomas, Shekerry Ashworth, Cammie Gardner. Last row: Trainer: Mackenzie Matthews, and Bulldog Mascot: Casey Davis! Their Coach is Mrs. Denise Darsey.
