CORRECTION: In the story on Boys and Girls State last Friday, Adrianna Bradley was incorrectly listed as attending Riverdale Academy. She attends Red River High School.

Formal ceremonies to invest Dr. Chris Maggio as the 19th president of Northwestern State University will take place Friday, Sept. 15, beginning with a morning Mass, followed by the investiture, a reception and several other events planned around the celebration. Maggio was named president of the university in May. The public is welcome to attend all events.

The Sept. 15 events will begin with a Mass of Thanksgiving at 9 a.m. at the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, 613 Second St., Natchitoches, in which NSU musicians and vocal ensembles will participate.

The investiture will take place at 11 a.m. in A.A. Fredericks Auditorium beginning with a procession by faculty and will include an address by NSU alumnus Gary Fields, an award-winning senior reporter for the Wall Street Journal.

The band is going to Tigerland. Red River High School Band Director Yasmine Jason told the Journal that 13 members of the bands brass section have been invited to LSU for a clinic on Saturday. Jason says she will be taking students who play trumpet, French horn, trombone and tuba to the clinic Saturday morning from 8:30 to noon. They will depart about 4:30 am.
