Members of VFW Post 7287 and Auxiliary 7287 hosted the Veterans of Foreign Wars Louisiana District 12 meeting on Saturday, April 29th. Delegates from Posts and Auxiliaries in Northwest Louisiana attended.
Six members of the Coushatta Post and Auxiliary were elected to serve District 12. They are shown above. From the left, David Fields was elected Commander of District 12 and Barry McCoy was elected District Trustee.
Four members of the local Auxiliary were elected to district offices. They are Susanne Wastlund, elected District President, Ramel Fields elected District Secretary, Dawn Brewer elected District Trustee, and Heather McCoy elected District Patriotic Instructor.
The new officers will assume their duties at the state VFW Convention to be held in Alexandria in late June. They will serve through June 2018.
VFW Post 7287 and Auxiliary 7287 serve the community through service to the local National Guard unit, the War Veterans Home in Bossier City, and Americanism programs for children in kindergarten through 12th grade, among other activities.
