Thank you for joining us on the debut issue of the Journal. We are a new electronic information service for the residents of Red River Parish.

I am John Brewer, Editor of the Journal. I have lived here since 1992 and I worked in broadcasting (94.9 The River) until I retired in 2013. I covered news and other aspects of broadcasting beginning in 1963.

During my career, I covered every major news event from the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in 1963 to the Boston Marathon bombing in 2013. Included in that are many years of covering the Capitol and Legislature in Baton Rouge during the administration of Governor Edwin Edwards.

Today, I see a need to cover local news, events, and local personalities. There will be an emphasis on quick delivery of accurate information. The Journal will go the extra mile to find out the positive things people in Red River Parish are doing to make life better for our neighbors.
